The Anabolic Steroid Controversy, Are They Addictive?

One question that a lot of people have asked is if it is possible to become addicted to steroids.

The answer is, yes, some users of anabolic steroids meet the criteria for addiction and chemical dependency. They continue to use the drugs despite knowing that it has negative effects on relationships and can exacerbate physical problems. A lot of time and money is spent on using the drugs, finding them, and they start to become a focus in life.

There is also the fact that some users, upon stopping use of the drugs, will experience withdrawal symptoms. Mood swings, fatigue, depression, loss of appetite disturbed sleep patterns as well as a reduced sex drive are some of things to watch out for.

The avoidance of these withdrawal symptoms often leads to them desire to take more drugs. One unfortunate side effect is that the depression caused by use of some the steroids can be a factor in possible suicide attempts.
