It happens like clockwork, once or twice a year as a media frenzy about a new medical cure or drug and alcohol addiction. Speak bluntly it does not exist.
There is absolutely no medical care for drug addiction, despite what you may have read in the newspapers are heard on TV. If that is true, why are we bombarded by periodic news stories to the contrary? I believe the incident that curious combination of both hope and greed.
One of the things that facilitates drug addiction is the quick fix, take a pill, mentality and oddly enough, That is what is played to by stirring up hope in people taking the pill will fix addiction. The greed part is obvious, if I invented a pill that would allow drinking and drug taking to happen without creating a negative effects I would become very rich indeed.
But what about those news reports? There is a distinct difference between credible scientific testing backed by empirical evidence and headline mongering. The actual statistical data shows that while there is hope in some areas such as craving, percentages of people helped are actually quite small and there are side effects which are not.
Careful reading of data outcomes studies will reveal something like “drug may have had somewhat more effect than a placebo (sugar pill) in some instances for some people.” That statement is a lot different than the headline “Scientists Discover New Pill That Allows You To Drink All You Want”.
I would respectfully suggest that there already exists a way to end the problems of drug and alcohol addiction causes in one’s life. It’s called abstinence. It is a persuasive argument; if you don’t want problems with drinking and drugging stop drinking and drugging.
