Some think spirituaity is a critical component in drug abuse or alcoholism recovery. Others tend to believe that one’s spiritual beliefs (or lack of), should not be a barrier to addiction recovery. This is the work of our friend Tammy Mastroberte, publisher and Editorial Director of Elevated Existence magazine. I’m not a religious person, but I do know that having spirituality does help out. A friend of mine that I mentioned in another comment, he turned full christian overnight, and eventually settled for a spiritual belief that involves the better parts of most religions.
As a religious person, I find get strength and solace in know that there is a God and He can help me do great things. Now, this may not work for many people, but for a recovering addict, does it really hurt to give it a try? Nothing like a supreme power on your side to help things along the path of recovery.
