Finding Drug Abuse Treatment: Are You Failing To Ask This Critical First Question:

by admin on January 13, 2009

In searching for drug abuse treatment, many people start their search with trying to locate a program. This is the wrong place to start and the wrong question to be asking.

There is a critical question the need to be answered that precedes the hunt for the ideal drug and alcohol treatment programs. If it has determined that you were a loved one wants treatment, the next critical question task is

What level of addiction treatment is appropriate?

Not every person needing help qualifies for the same level of care. It is very important to get a professional assessment to determine the level of care first. Once that level of care has been determined then the search should began for the appropriate program at that recommended level of care.

The first search then, should be for a competent assessment rather than for a specific program. That being said working you find inappropriate drug or alcohol assessment?

There is only one search source that I would think of recommending to any patient or anyone in need of help and that is the government’s treatment locator available here: Addiction Treatment Locator

Very interesting, and I 100% agree. While some people may do fine with just a good support system and meetings, others may need intensive inpatient care as well. The problem I know of personally is that so many of my friends refuse to believe that they have a problem.
